Primary duties involved the maintenance of the propagation greenhouse. Directing staff, sowing seeds, applying treatments, caring for young plants, transferring plants to the next house, harvesting tomatoes and paprika, Quality control and sanitation. Other duties included learning the duties involved in the rest of the company including postharvest procedures.

Position Finished so I could return to University

 

Farm Hand

Duties ranged from picking, strawberries, quality control on strawberries, erecting Spanish tunnels, bed preparation, and poly tunnel maintenance. (Mitchell Fruit Farms) To planting cabbages, picking cabbages, quality control, roof maintenance, sheep handling, selecting lambs for slaughter, grain silo sanitation and maintenance, garden maintenance of B&B garden. Marketing and promotions

December 2000 – September 2002

Self Employed, Liverpool, UK

Ran marketing and publicity for a number of bars, clubs and specific nights in Liverpool. Duties involved poster design and distribution, Flyer design and distribution, recruiting and managing distribution staff, marketing timetable design and management and the development of promotion concepts including the arrangement to allow promotion inside competing clubs.

Post finished under happy understanding that I was leaving to University. Duties passed on to colleague.

 

Trainee Chef

Duties included opening kitchens, preparing kitchens, food preparation, food presentation, kitchen sanitation, closing down the restaurant in the evenings.

Activities and Interests

I am currently a member of the UK Socrates-Erasmus Student Committee, which promotes the Erasmus Scheme in the UK and advises both the UK Socrates-Erasmus Council and the European Parliament as where improvements could be made and what areas seem to be of concern to students considering/partaking in the scheme.

I enjoy reading, listening to music and Circus Skills. I enjoy swimming and when the opportunity arises I like to rock climb, canoe, kayak and cycle.
